For a number of school districts, finding highly qualified NYS-certified teachers in certain subject areas and course sections has become challenging. Through NERIC’s new Virtual Teaching Services, school districts can access remote instructors to teach full subject areas and/or specific course sections in areas of need. This new service leverages the high-quality technology and online teaching practices used in NERIC’S Distance Learning and Cooperative Virtual Learning Academy (CVLA) services to connect remote instructors with students for credit-bearing coursework. Courses offered through this service meet NYS regulations for both Teacher of Record and Contracts for Instruction for core instructional services.
To participate in NERIC’s Virtual Teaching Services, district must also subscribe to NERIC’s full Distance Learning service, either through NERIC directly or through the full Distance Learning service at those local BOCES partnering with NERIC for service support.
