For some school districts, offering students new and more engaging courses and related opportunities may seem out of reach due to budget constraints. But with NERIC’s Distance Learning (DL) service, any school district can expand its academic offerings to students using cutting-edge technology and a regional collaborative approach.
Through the DL service, districts become part of a regional distance learning community of school districts and BOCES collaborating to share programs through distance learning technologies. These technologies include:
- A state-of-the-art, high-definition interactive video system through which educators teach courses simultaneously to students in several different school buildings and remote locations
- Online conferencing platforms
- Online learning platforms
NERIC’s staff supports school districts by providing design, implementation, coordination, training, and technical support services to empower local school distance learning initiatives. In addition to courses for students, participants in the DL service may also utilize the system’s videoconferencing and bridging capabilities for virtual field trips, professional development, and community programs.
