NERIC’s Wide Area Network (WAN) service provides e-rate eligible lit point to point circuit(s), 1 Gb or 10 Gb bandwidth available between NERIC to the district. Carrier provides a high-speed managed fiber optic connection with electronics (switches/routers) to “light” the fiber, delivering active data services. Alternative technology, dark fiber, unmanaged fiber optic connection, district would provide electronics to light circuit.
WAN circuits are monitored 24×7 and tickets are opened for any network connectivity issues. Once power has been determined at the district the circuit is reported to the carriers for service issues.
