Changes have been made to the Instructional Technology Plan process. In
2017, districts will not be required to provide an update, but may do so,
in order to ensure alignment with Smart Schools Investment Plans. In 2018,
a new three-year plan will be required, and annual updates for years 2 and
3 will be optional.
More information about these changes can be found here.
NYSED has released a brief survey to gather information from the field around the issue of student and teacher technology literacy. Click here take the survey.
Close to 700 came together to celebrate Tech Awareness Day, truly exemplifying the theme, Creating Community. Check out our story on Twitter!
In partnership with BrightBytes, NERIC is excited to share and support the Early Warning module as a new service offering.
The reimbursement system for Smart Schools Bond Act (SSBA) expenditures is now available on the NYSED Business Portal and is accessible to all school districts with approved Smart Schools Investment Plans (SSIPs). This is where all submissions for reimbursement will be made. School districts with approved SSIPs should have received notification via e-mail from NYSED that the system has been opened.
More details about how to navigate this system within the NYSED portal and answers to frequently asked questions you might have can be found at the NYSED Smart Schools resources page.
NERIC is required to submit a Technology Plan (Chapter 793) to the New York State Education (NYSED), which lists regional standards for supported hardware and software platforms in a RIC region.
In the area of Network Hardware, NERIC has historically supported Cisco networking and wireless as a single standard. This platform has served NERIC, individual BOCES and districts well over the years and has provided a great deal of networking stability across the region. Over the past several years, however, districts have increasingly been asking for choices.
NERIC has secured a new CoSer from NYSED to support districts with the acquisition of the technology outlined in their Smart Schools Investment Plans (SSIP).
